Kayaking; Learning and Research
I grew up in the Ozark Mountains of NW Arkansas enjoying large freshwater lakes where I learned to sail and water ski! Canoeing the Buffalo River came next as my parents helped preserve this pristine river into the 1st National River in the U.S. Today, The Buffalo National River remains a natural beauty for all to enjoy! My “need for speed” took me west searching for white water rafting thrills and yes a few bumps and scrapes! My all time favorite “The Holly Grail of Rafting” is the Middle Fork of the Salmon!!! Family vacations took us to the Golden Isles of Georgia where I fell in love with life near the ocean and surrounding marshes. My Colleton River lot was purchased in 2000 and nine years later I became a Master Naturalist. Kayaking the marshes and tidal rivers gives me a conscious appreciation of the natural life around us, above in the night skies and under our feet. For years I have been a Naturalist Educator for children and adults at the Coast al Discovery Museum and other local organizations. I look forward to many paddles together plus enhancing your knowledge and appreciation of Low Country. We are all stewards of an amazing estuary - the Port Royal Sound.

Fleet Voyages
We moved to Colleton in 2018 from Southern California, where we lived for the past 35 years. While waiting for our new home to be built on Inverness, we rented locally for 6 months. We moved into our home April 1st, 2019 and are full-time residents.
While living in California, we played a lot of tennis and golf, but were not big boaters. After moving here to the Lowcountry, we spent time exploring the waterways by taking the ferry to Daufuskie Island, enjoying tours with May River Excursions, taking kayaking trips, and renting boats. These experiences gave us a new appreciation for being on the water. But it wasn’t until we went boating with Bob & Gale Stafford that we knew how valuable The Maritime Club could be. We spent a couple of hours cruising the Colleton River while being awestruck by multiple dolphin pods swimming alongside us. We were hooked!
We believe the waterfront is a very special place at Colleton River and we want to make sure all of the membership enjoys the waterways as we do, with activities such as fishing, kayaking, sunset cruising, “sandbar-ing”, or just exploring the river – all from our very own CRC dock!
As enthusiastic “non-boaters”, our contribution to The Maritime Club will be coordinating and planning various fun outings on the water!

Communications and Prospective Member Experiences
Enjoyment of the maritime world has been part of my life since I rowed with my Dad on Lewis Bay in Cape Cod when I was about six years old. My Dad built two small wooden boats and I was hooked. I've been exploring the seas from Cape Cod to the Caribbean and points in between and have never tired of the excitement and wonderment of it all.
As a part of The Maritime Club, being responsible for the Prospective Member Experiences boat tours is personally very rewarding. All of the folks who choose to come to see CRC on an Ambassador Member Experience have an opportunity to spend a few hours with us enjoying the splendor of our magnificent maritime environment.
To see the enjoyment on the faces of our guests is very special.
I hope you join us for several of our activities.
